It is almost time to start a winter project. We have 3 choices: Cushman 39G, V-Rod Destroyer, or X-90 Bobber. The Bobber wins hands down - I have a minibike build-off contest and we need another small Harley for Windber in June. This is the basic style but in a miniature. We purchased a 1974 X-90 in Attica for $500 with a clean Ohio title. The bike has not run for a few years and is pretty rusty and bent up. I had our chief mechanic check it out and he thinks that a Bobber is feasible. ;D Front forks are bent, gas tank looks great , and everything is rusty. The front fender is tweaked but it is coming off anyway. The good thing is that the engine turns over. The swing arm has a twist in it and the rear shocks are totally junk. The muffler is missing the baffle but I am looking for a high performance expansion chamber to replace the entire muffler.

Well, at least the seat has already been customized. ;D
Didn't I hear you say at one time that you had an idea to use a small V-twin engine for the project ?
That mechanic will no doubt need a bigger hammer. ;D

The idea of using a Briggs V-twin with a Cushman hi-performance kit is for a miniature V-Rod Destroyer. I think the the V-Rod is #3 on the build list. It is going to take the most time since everything has to be scratch built.

What ever happened to a good ole Gang ? Now you are dating yourself ;D Besides you were at Windber - what did you think about the ride to town with all of those kids? Now do you think that was a gang or a "cluster of sidewalk cowboys"? ;D

Actually, all joking aside, it looks like a ton of fun to me.

XS, You had better just plan on going with us to Windber. If your Rupp will not run, you can ride one of our street legal ones. The event is on Father's Day weekend. After the parade on Saturday we take all of the kids back to Jeff's and then we ride the street legal minis around the local area., I usually go to Johnstown.

After consulting with my chief mechanic, we decided that the front forks on the X-90 are not worth straightening or having the hard chrome redone. We lucked out and found a NOS front end for a Z-90 on Ebay. The fork legs will fit the X-90 with some modifications. I will probably replace all of the sheet metal parts with billet aluminum parts(gotta use my Dremel tool, ya know ). So things are starting to slowly progress.

Wow, NOS parts, it's kind of a shame to start altering NOS parts, I'd bet there aren't many of those left in this world.

NOS X-90 forks are almost non-existent. The Z-90s are scarce also but not as bad as the X-90s. I do not think that the Z-90 is collected as much as the X-90 so more NOS parts are available and the price is usually half of what the X-90 parts cost.
