I did something simular , I took my ST90 forks down to my machinist guy and had the CT70 tripple trees bored over to fit the larger ST90 fork tubes ,, so far it looks great

Yep, that is my philosophy too - if it's close, we will make it fit ;D

I finally have the bike in the shop and the modifications have started. Everything has to get fabricated and tack welded while the bike is still assembled. I cut the frame and fitted new tubes and gussets to accommodate the new seat. The original oil tank will not fit so a new one will get fabricated from some 3.5" round tubing. The taillight/license bracket was cut and moved up on the frame tube to allow clearance for the rear fender. We are going to retain the full rear suspension so the new seat gets mounted solid to the frame - no seat springs.

Glad to see you got started on the bobber, can't wait to see how it comes out. Wouldn't it be easier to use pre-mix and not have an oil tank ?

The original X-90 chainguards have a square design and look a little long for this bike. I replaced the original with a Shortster chainguard. It has a rounded design. The front of the new guard was shortened 1.5" and the front mounting bracket was relocated to fit the X-90.

The stock oil tank will not fit with the frame modifications. A new tank is getting fabricated out of 3.5" tubing. I made up some new oil tank mounts and tacked them to the frame. The oil tank was tacked together and fitted to the new mounts.

The rear fender on a Bobber should maintain a tight gap to the tire. On a stock X-90 the rear fender is mounted to the frame. The gap between the fender and tire constantly changes as the rear suspension compresses and rebounds. To achieve a tight gap between the tire and fender, the fender is getting mounted to the rear swingarm instead of to the frame. The swingarm, fender, and tire will now move together as the suspension is worked. A rear fender strut was bent and fitted to the swingarm and the mock-up fender. This is the look that I am tryin to accomplish.

Nice work X-90, I like what you did on the oil tank. Does it have to be pressurized, or is it gravity fed to an oil injector ?

The engine has an oil pump so gravity and suction move the oil.

Time for some serious changes on the rear fender mounts. The original strut that I fabricated just did not look correct. I added 2 new mounting tabs to the rear of the swing arm and bent up a new strut. I like this new design.

I finally finished the frame today. It took about 50 hours to finish it. I cut and rewelded the frame to get the Bobber look. The biggest problem was that the frame had 4 major cracks in it and several areas were bent from years of abuse. Everything is repaired and straightened. The frame and a lot of other components were deburred and blasted with glass beads. I think that it is time to go to powder coat.
