I was hoping to make some serious progress on the bike today but I ran into a little snag. Since the frame was modified, the front upper engine mounts will not work. The stock mounts are symetrical sheet metal stampings. I need a set with a .350 offset and my only choice is to machine a billet set of mounts. I jammed a program in the CNC macine and made a new set of mounts. I just need to powder coat them and get them installed.

Harley Davidson has come out with a few new mirrors that have a black finish instead of chrome. We tried a few on the Bobber and we could not find anything that looked correct and they were $195 per set. We ended up purchasing the $40 per set chrome mirrors that we have on the other X-90s. I disassembled them and bead blasted them prior to black powder coating.

The tie-downs worked great when I needed to take the bike to the shop and fabricate the exhaust system.

The Bobber is pretty much finished, almost 300 hours in this bike. Here are a couple of photos comparing a stock bike to the Bobber. Most of the nuts and bolts on the bike are stainless steel and hand polished to look like chrome. The gas tank is painted and everything else was powder coated. The handmade exhaust system was covered with heat wrap.

The first show is next Saturday at Roeder's during Ohio Bike Week. We are planning on pulling the Bobber behind the Ultra and Hotcakes can bring the twins in the truck.

Last month I found and purchased an NOS throttle/oil cable set for the Bobber, but I did not get to install and adjust them until today. I then poured in a half a gallon of high test gasoline and pulled out the choke. The engine fired up on the second kick and Holy Crap was it loud. It sounded like my old racing go-kart with the West Bend engine. I could not resist and had to ride it through town just one time. ;D The bike ran great and I even got it up to 45mph. Did I mention that the new handmade pipe has no baffling in it and it is LOUD. I think that it sounds great but I am going to have to quiet it down.

Loud is good sometimes....like on a big V-twin, but those 2 strokers will blow holes in your ear drums. ;D
