I was taught years ago, before it was required to have your head light on to ride with your high beam on in the day time. The rider that taught me this said" Even if they get upset because you have your highbeam on, they at least see you." Just wondering what you all think about this.

I don't have a preference, I usually ride with my low beam on. I know that a high beam will sometimes irritate other vehicle drivers. But your are right, it will get you noticed.
My brother [the cop] told me that stolen vehicles with the key punched out are almost always stuck on high beam.

Will definitely get you noticed better. Any little bit helps. For those that do ride with the high beam on does it appreciably decrease lamp life? (or increase?)

I've ridden with my high beam on... accidentally!
I'm sure you'd get noticed more if you use it during the day!

We use the low beam on the Ultra because then the passing lamps are on too. They do not work with the high beam on.

I think most new bikes, at least the sportbikes have the headlight permanently on. I can NOT turn mine off. The only control is HIGH or LOW. If it gets me noticed, I don't care who likes it or doesn't, I'll use it. I ride with HIGH on all the time in the DAYTIME. At night, if I am behind someone then I turn it to low beam.

Newer bikes My 1980 KZ750 is factory wired for the headlight to be permanently on ! No on-off switch. Just a high beam/low beam switch .... I leave it on low beam during the day.

Just wondering what you all think about this. I always run high beam during the day. I also run a non-dot lens that sorta looks like an airplane landing light. It's also set up high to shine directly into the average car rear view mirror. They may hate me, but they can see me. I still run a 55/60 bulb though. The old bikes have trouble pulling a 100 watt bulb. 'Nother tip: You know that "I'm gonna get nailed" feeling when you go through an intersection solo. The one with the inevitable @#$%&@* that feels like he/she/it HAS to turn left in front of you. Wiggle the bars. I've had people start to pull out on me, I do the wiggle, they stop. It confuses 'em something fierce. If you hit the brakes, they see the headlight dip, and pull out on you anyway. Try it. It works.

That sounds like a great idea. Sort of like a temporary modulator. I never want to flash my high beams in situations like that as that is a generally accepted sign that it's okay to turn in front of me. Now I can't wait for someone to turn in front of me so I can try it! ;D

Another way to be seen at an intersection is to move from one side of your lane to the other and back again. The eye is better at picking up a lateral movements like that.

I like to run my low beam + my driving lights in the day time. Seems like folks pull out less, but could just be my imagination I do the wiggle thing too, seems to work. good tip 8track ;D

I run a 100 watt headlight all day long and only go to the low beam when it gets darks. Like mentioned earlier, at least if they are annoyed, they see me.
My KTM has a running light above the high/low that is all also
