Wow! Great pics. Is that you riding through the stream? What kind of tires are you using?
More pics please.

Sorry, Bruce. That is not me riding through the stream. The bike is too heavy for my riding ability especially with luggage as it is there. It is my husband. I crossed on a rickety old foot bridge which is where I took the picture. I'm pretty sure at the time we had Continental TC 80 tires on it. I'll get more pic posted soon!

Hey vstrom2up, are you guys familiar with the "master mike's" spacer kit for your V-Strom? You can read about it here. www.stromtrooper.com/forums/showthread.php?t=8127Anyway, I received my spacers and plan to do a rear tire change, chains - sprockets and spacers all at the same time. When I run out of tread in about 1,000 miles, that is. ;D

Actually, Bruce, that is a 650! Believe it or not…more than enough for the 2 of us and gear and my husband is a pretty big guy (I, of course, am a petite flower ). Stripped down I am sure I could ride it, but not across a creek bed. We are looking to find an old CR500 to make an enduro out of. If we ever find one that isn’t an outrageously priced basket case, maybe I can mess around on that. Or a Lotto win gets me my own bike of my choice! As for Master Mike’s space kit, Buck12ga, I will send that along to my mechanic (husband). Thanks for the info.

BTW, Peter, I guess that whole tea party thing worked out for us with that "New" England. But I like coffee better anyway and that old England has quite a bit going for it! Stonehenge, royalty, castles and of course the muffins ;D!

A CR500? Is there any chance I could talk you out of that? My brother had one way back when and I remember that it was a total, brutal beast. I grew up on dirt bikes and was no slouch, but the CR500 was a handful. If you could get it started you would be rewarded with power that tried to rip your arms out of the sockets. A motard version would be great on the street, but I don't think it would be the bike to use exploring in the woods. But if you do get one I'd like to see the conversion process.

Blasphemy in this house, Bruce. My husband raced and that was, bar none for him anyway, his favorite bike. He LOVED that bike I think because he had a no finesse, muscle through it riding style in harescambles. I think he just wants to relive his glory days or something, but that’s ok. The enduro conversion is all set. He knows it can be done, where he can get it and how much it will cost…just needs the bike. He said he may settle for a WR400 though, but I am afraid that he is just setting me up to listen to him complain about what it could be if it were a CR500 .

Man going up Mt Washington In a car is freaky enough (I've done it) I cant imagine doing it on a motorcycle. Did they all run ok at that altitude? How was the ride down?

Oh, no. Please don't shut up, Bruce. That's the only way to learn new things! I can ride and have ridden his CR500 many years ago. I agree, it is a bit on the powerful side for me, but easier to handle than that heavy vstrom. Besides, I just burn up the clutch or force bulk purchases of plugs riding around in 1st and 2nd gear until he buys me a bike I can REALLY ride (after that Lotto win). Actually, I am perfectly happy just taking it all in from the back seat !
