I keep seeing posts about different rides. If you had a "dream" choice and unlimited time and cash, where would you go? USA, Europe? Would you sightsee or just ride for the ride of it - or both? Personally I think I would love to go to New Zealand but at my age the flight would be too long for me. I'll stick to where I can go on two wheels. I am just curious about what others would do.

First off Roadunner with your great pictures why not give a little road report with some of your trips...look like too much fun Well I have been to most of the destinations that I wanted to get to by bike, took six weeks to go to California,Utah four times,Texas, east coast a bit,West Virgina, just around a bit. But if I could just take off now at 54 years young with some one elses credit card and hit the road!!!!!!!!! I would like to do it on my 1980 xs 1100 Yamaha, have it completely rebuilt, have my camping gear and motel gear. I would like to take RT.50 from beginning to end...why? cause I wanna do it and would then like to hit all the National and State Parks in the continental US as I return.Talk to locals along the way and see what they say is "special"...largest ball of twine or the last Stuckies with pecan rolls or any roads that follow railroad tracks.....going out of country is cool, been to Bermuda but there is soo much to see here that this is where I want my dream ride to be....in the USA. But any ride is a good ride ;D

I'd like to re-trace a trip I took back in the day when I was only 19 years old, I want to take the southern route to California via old Rt 66 and then come back via a northern route. It's been my dream for a long, long time.

Those are good - I have ridden most of US 50 from Washington DC to California but never on one trip. I have never done the 66 route but I still would like to do that.
I would like to re-do my Alaska tour - we were on the road for 49 days and that was not enough. It was costly for sure. A friend of mine is there now outside of Anchorage and his e-mail this morning he said his bike was empty and gas was $ 4.97 a gallon. Our trip in 2006 was 12,153 miles round trip but it was worth it. ;D We have many photos.

The old Lincoln highway route 30, would be good, or route 62 from the Canadian border to the Mexican border. Roadrunner you have some beautiful pictures of great places, makes me jealous. I am retired too , just have not gotten far from home yet, no camera yet either.

I am in the middle of my dream ride right now.I'm typing this from Laramie,WY as I head north from Colorado.I spent about two weeks in Colorado attending the Telluride Bluuegrass Festival and riding routes 50,92,550(The Million Dollar Highway),The San Juan Skyline,Rocky Mountain N.P. and Mesa Verda.
Today I'm gonna ride 130 west out of Centenial and head northwest to the Tetons,Yellowstone,WY 212(Beartooth pass) and finish off at Glacier N.P. with the Going to the Sun road.
It has been incredible!I could go on and on,but I'll wait until I get home, in about two weeks, and post some ride reports and pictures.

Dream ride for me would be to ride from Ohio West to the Pacific coast taking in as much of the American mid west as possible, but hey thats a dream.
More do-able would be to retrace the route I took on my honeymoon back in 1980. That was drive/ride to Roslaire in Wexford and cross by Ferry to France, ride down through France via Lyon into Spain. Take a couple of days out just North of Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast. Head back into France via Marseilles and then follow the French coast line into Monaco and Italy. Head north for Switzerland via Lake Como, through Switzerland via Saint Gottards Pass and into Germany at Basel and then into France at Strasbourg. Head to Paris for a couple of days sight seeing then back to the coast to pick up the ferry and home.

Those roads are some of the finest around. Many of my favorites. Did several of those last year but when I got to Kalispell, just before "Going to the Sun Highway" I found out it was closed due to repair work, so we went up into Alberta, Canada. Have a great ride! Keep the shiny side up!

My dream ride would go anywhere where my butt doesn't hurt after an hour on the bike!
But, seriously, I think it would be neat to ride through every single state...

Have you ever seen "Long Way Round" with Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman? That's it.
In the Bravo series (available on DVD and worth the buy if you have never seen it!), they ride the whole way around the world starting in England, heading east to New York City with only a little plane ride over the Pacific Ocean. I might take a more southern route in eastern Europe instead of that "Road of Bones" route. But what the heck...if I had a support vehicle following me, I might take the road less traveled too! ;D

I would like to start in Beijing, China, and head north to the mountains. Then, turn west and head towards Tibet and finally take the southern route to Shanghai. 30 days and 6,000 miles would make a nice trip.
