Our member 8trackmind has started a new web site for UJM [ Universal Japanese Motorcycles ]. The web site is still in it's infancy stages, but I think it has good possibilities of becoming an excellent site for owners of the Universal Japanese Motorcycles. Since I don't see any conflict with our Ride Ohio site, I am happy to support his efforts in any way I can. If you have an interest in UJMs, here is the web address. midsouthujm.forumakers.com/index.htmPerhaps we can get 8trackmind on here to give us a little run down on the web site and some history of the UJM.

Thanks! Hopefully, the site will be more about local riders than the actual machines. There are already plenty of sites devoted to tech. Most are brand specific. So, I have no intention of competing with that. In fact, my plan is to post links so people can get the very best information on their model bike. What I hope to do, is bring some of the riders of older machines together in my area. If you're riding and wrenching on an old Honda, Kawasaki, or whatever, it doesen't matter. Many of us are doing the same thing. I'm hopeing that people will look beyond the brand and realize that it really is all about riding. The UJM is making a comeback for many reasons. I don't want people to feel they're alone. Right now, nobody is doing this in my area. I want them to have a place to go, meet new folks and RIDE! Best regards, Jeff

Very cool idea. Since I guess my bike is a UJM I am very interested in this site. I am active on the XS11 site but it is specific to one model. This looks like something that I'm interested in. Thanks

Thanks Thats another great site. The tutorial on drilling brake rotors is a must read if you're into that kind of thing. (I am) I'm a member of many of the 70's UJM sites (even though I rarely post in some of 'em) CB1100F, The GS Resources, KZR. All are great brand specific sites. Even if you don't own that make, you can still learn something you may have never thought of. Many of the people that post on other vintage sites own more than one brand. Some own an example from each of the big four. But it seems that most all of the sites are about the bikes, not getting together and actually riding them. None are based in my area either. Thats why Ride Ohio was a great example for me. It's about riding. I hope to round up as many locals as I can. It should be fun.

The XS11 site has a history of getting rides and rallys together. I was able to attend one and it was a great group of people. The reason I like the Ride Ohio site is the get togethers. I'm hoping we can make more of them this year.

The XS11 site has a history of getting rides and rallys together. Many sites do. I've attended a few put on by members of the Suzuki site. Those kind of rides are great events. I don't want to cut into that at all. Thing is, none of them are in this area. I usually do at least 1000 miles round-trip to attend a rally. Thats without the "ride" itself. I enjoy it, but I can't do that all the time. Between west TN, east AR and north MS, there has to be at least a few old bikes around here. BTW, any and all are free to contribute any UJM kinda stuff. Pictures, stories, whatever. If you run across somebody from my area on another site, shoot 'em my way. Nobody likes to hang around on a dead site...You guys can help set the tone for what's to come. Best regards, Jeff

No, I haven't. The East Tennesse / NC motorcycle scene is getting to be a real circus. I don't like it when kids riding crotch rockets pass me on the inside dragging their elbows. It's just not safe. For me, It's closer (and safer) to hit the Ozarks in northwest Arkansas.

I rode the Parkway 2 years ago. There were very few squids out. Had more problem with a moron in a Miata. He would pass you like a bat out of hell go about 1/2 mile. Pull over take a picture with out getting out of his car. Then repeat the process. He passed me at least 10 times in 20 miles or so.
