Those are good looking projects, I didn't realize you were into bike restoration. The TY250, do you ride that one in the trials events at the BSA swap meet in Toronto ?
Good looking dog ! In charge of garage security I presume ?

Thanks to all for the kind words. I've done a few resto's for myself and helped on a few others but kinda tired of all that and just want to rack up some seat time now. I will finish the R60 this spring. Not looking for a concours winner just a decent old rider. The R50 is very correct except for stainless fasteners and runs great. it will be fun with the dog in the hack. I just recently got the ty250, gonna make it mechanically sound then desert camo the thing just for laughs. then I will trial at the beezer rally twice a year and at mid ohio's vintage trial. I have competed at bsa rally and mid ohio I think in 02/03/ and 04 on a bultaco sherpa t 350 that I did restore to about 85%, it was really nice. Sold that Sure beats hangin in a bar! Talk to you later

Fooey, did you have any powder coating done on either of those bikes, and if so, did you use someone locally ?

Fooey, did you have any powder coating done on either of those bikes, and if so, did you use someone locally ? No powder coating on the bikes. I used base coat clear coat on th R50, but there is just something about that paint (clear ) that looks kinda yellow when it is sitting next to a bike or part painted with urethane. The urethane has a deep rich black that is just beautiful. the urethane holds up and keeps its shine plus it has the look of the original enamel that came on the bikes. I did powder coat the side car frame and hardware at a place in canal fulton called rack systems, 125$ for that. I am painting the tub with urethane. I am not really a big fan of powder because it just does not keep that deep black color that the amish in me loves! plus the film thickness is such that when you tighten bolts/parts to it they will sink in over time allowing the bolt/part to loosen up. the R60 is all urethane and gorgeous.

Butch was telling me that he ran into a problem with powder coat on the frame for his XS650 tracker, the powder coat added to the inside dimensions of the frame where the motor mounts to the frame. He said he had to file some of the powder coat so the engine would slip in the frame. The old XS650 uses metal to metal on the engine mounts. I never realized the powder coat was that thick.

It can be very thick, then you chop/file/grind or whatever to make things fit. So there you are cutting up what you just spent your hard earned money on I had some panhead cylinders coated, the head bolts go on from under and the head kept coming loose as the bolts sank into the powder coat. BooHiss!!

Nice toys Fooey, but the head is kinda creepy. Rapuda...creepy? lol lol! It's just a training model for the girls in the cosmotology program, they only can use them for a year then toss them. I pick a few up here and there and give em to some friends just for laughs. We take her to mid ohio and stick her on a pole high above our camp. Makes camp easy to find after a day of fun and is a great conversation starter. I read a great line on some site, maybe here, "growing old is mandatory...growing up is not" lol ;D ;D ;D See Ya
