Good afternoon from a wet and Cold Dublin. The Road Warrior has gone to a good home I hope and now I am doing my bit to help with the economic recovery of the USA by trading it in on a Harley Soft Tail Breakout. Yes I know, you either love them or hate them, a bit like Marmite, however, I love it and after a nice jaunt out and about down to Ballylynan in County Laois yesterday round trip of 180 KLMS have to say it's smooth, quiet, handles well and it looks pretty massive as well.

I was out yesterday for a run down to Ballylynan in County Laois about 95 KLMS from where I live. Topped off the tank before heading out on the M50, the read out said I had 300 KLMS before reserve. Very comfortable seat, forward mounted controls and bars at a nice height for me. Very quiet compared with the Road Warrior, which had Vance and Hines fitted. Could almost not hear the engine run with my crash helmet on. Fuel injection makes for crisp starting and acceleration and with 6 gears once rolling at highway speeds very low revs, no vibration through the foot pegs or the handlebars, mirrors could be adjusted for me but not too bad. Once settled on and rolling it felt completely different to the Warrior, not sure why? Maybe the wide rear tyre? Anyway once I got that sussed it handled the twisty roads of Counties Kildare and Laois very well, once committed it felt like it was on rails going round the bends, very stable and reassuring. equally at home on twisting country back roads as the Motorways. At the legal 120 KPM on the motorways it was at a little over 2000 RPM. Very reasonable! The finish is great as well. Look I know how these bikes divide opinion, but hey, if I was spending someone else money I might be bothered!

Congrats on the new ride. I miss my Harley but with three bikes at the time, I wasn't riding it enough to keep it.

Thanks guys I am keeping my fingers crossed that I get many a years trouble free riding. I am just back from a couple of days in county Sligo up in the North West of the country. Drove up as the weather wasn't up to much and it's just a little over 10 centigrade which for this time of the year is cold.
