This is the exact same bike I had...did my first real road trip on it to San Antonio TX,18 at the time..boy did I learn some lessons about being on the road on a bike ;D Young, dumb and full of.......lack of riding experience on the road. Slept sitting on the curb in rest areas next to the bike,it gets cold at times and very wet,I didn't have the best road bike..did stay at one motel on the trip...this was before credit cards and cell phones...so the money in my pocket was it. Did learn one thing..wanted a bigger bike and learned to LOVE the road on that trip.Guess is that why I became a regional OTR truck driver for 15 years. Still love the the old 650....... www.youtube.com/watch?v=LzAOc9MuEW4&feature=related

Wow ! I had a 1978 CB750K. Bought it new in Nov 1977. Had it until 1988. It was one of the smoothest bikes I ever rode... until I bought the Wing.

A friend of mine bought a new 1972 CB750 and installed an after market Vetter fairing. The bike seemed light years ahead of anything else on the market. All of us who rode 650 twins or Harley Sportsters were in awe of the 750's speed and smoothness. And then there was the 900Z Kawasaki. Both are icons today.

Amy had a 70 750 Honda when I first met her.she loved that bike,we did a lot of road tips with it and I already had my 1100.Our first road trip was to Indianapolis for the 10th Annual National Speedway Tour1983 and we got a couple laps around the Speedway after the three day event.I remember I was a little tired on that trip,I just rode to Ogden and back with a lot of it in the rain and cold...6 days and 3500 miles later :)younger then..but then after many trips on the 750 to the east coast and Canada we finally sold it and got an 80 something 750.. Got pics of the old 750 in a shoebox somewhere..if we find another 70 750 I think it would be sitting next to her Harley ;D

The Teal Green/Turqoise & Whtie was indeed the original color on the 1970 XS1 650. They did vibrate exactly like the British vertical twins of the day and sounded exactly the same with the 360 crankshaft & firing order. The big difference was better reliability and oil tightness of the Yamaha. I never had one but knew several who did and it was a good bike in it's day. Later versions had a front disc brake and the "specials" had a stepped seat, kind of the cruiser look to them. Production ran up into the early 1980's as I recall.

This is my old friend the 1981 XS650H, I have owned this bike since 1995. I'll no doubt keep it forever. This is me and my 1977 XS650D which I sold a couple of years ago. I wish I had it back now.

Well I had a '70 650,did they ever come out with an electric start on them? After I blew the small end of a rod and replaced the cylinders with a 750 kit, plus 10 degree Weber cam it could be a bear to kick at times.

Electric start from 1972 thru the rest of the model years. All of them had a kick starter too.
