Oh, yes, the day when the head lights were round, Gallon of Gas was cheap and a dollar would go a long way. Well all we have are the memories. I thought that I would share this with you guys. Here is an advertisement I found for a 1980 Suzuki GS250T. My I had this very year and model for my first street bike. I had worked for the last 2 summers baling hay and trading in pop bottles for change. At the ripe old age of 15, I walked into the dealership with my folks and plunked down cold hard cash and rode it home (illegally of course since you had to be 16 for a permit at that time). This was my ticket to the outside world. Most kids my age wanted cars, not me, always had to be 2 wheels. Even though I only had her for a couple of years before I traded it on a brand new GS650L, this bike has a special place.

Okay...as long as we're reminiscing. My first street bike. Took it out to CA one summer at the worldly age of 18. First time I really saw another side of life outside my narrow view of suburbia.

It's vintage or nothing for me. The "newest" bike I've ever owned was an '82.

This was my first road bike if you don't count the mopeds and scooters I learned to ride on. This is a BSA 500cc B33 single or "thumper" as some people call them. This gentleman did a nice job of restoration on this one. Photo taken at the BSA swap meet in Toronto Ohio.

I started with a 82 Kz550 LTD that I got free from my brother in law
put a set of drag bars on it and did a very bad checkard paintjob on the gas tank. I have since had many more bikes, but that was the one that got me hooked on bikes
