We had this poll once before when gas hit $3.00 per gallon and everyone said they would ride this Summer regardless of price. But I wonder if anyone has changed their tune since gas is headed for $4.00 per gallon and probably higher than $4.00.

The bike is my stress relief.I will ride as long or far as it takes to clear my head. Yea I'll still ride what ever it costs. I don't like it but I'll pay it.

If gas prices get to $4.00 I will have to make the decision to either fill up the gas tank in the car (which gets better gas mileage) or fill up the bike (which gets worse mileage and has less storage). I probably won't quit riding all together but I will probably ride (and drive) less... but, how can I drive any less when I don't work outside the house?!?

Life will continue as before with the exception that I have been using the Focus to go to bicycle races instead of the F150. Sometimes I take my bicycle on the motorcycle but it can be a pain.
I need to get my TL125 running so i can get 80mpg again!!

Right Mike, life does go on, we have always paid way more for petrol than you guys ever did, probably something to do with the type of cars etc being produced in the States? We are used to paying high for the pleasure of using our cars, bikes, or whatever, so this current round of price hikes is nothing new. I don't use the car so much, but have no problem about filling the Sporty as the tank is so small anyway! I get between 50 and 70 MPG on the Sporty so why would I curtail my riding pleasure?
No chance of me getting a scooter, why don't you all get Harleys, well those of you who don't own one, and get better gas mileage?

I will ride as much as I have regardless of prices - in the near future any way. As others have said it is my head clearing time and my entertainment.
I have done other things to help reduce my fuel usage. Recently purchased a car that gets 32MPG instead of 25, drive 65-70MPH on my 40 mile commute instead of 75-80MPH, Ride the bike to work more often, looking for a job closer to home, etc.

I may have used this answer in the last poll but it still applies. I don't golf, I don't Fish, I don't belong to a Country Club. I ride motorcycles and will continue to because it's a ton cheaper than Therapy and Drugs, even if Gas hits $5.

The sportster motor is a good size.
Big motors suck more gas but because they need less rpm to produce the same power don't use as much to run under normal conditions.
These three bikes are all v-twins...
XL600V Transalp 45-50mpg VT1100 Aero 45-50mpg KTM950 Adv. 35-40mpg (with overdrive)
250 Rebel 65+mpg
The TA screams more than the others on the freeway but being smaller gets the same or better. I think I can get the 950's up over 40 with a little jetting tweak. After my last round of adjustments and removing the valve from the carb diaphrams, the motor started running a little richer.

My sanity is worth whatever a gallon of gas costs. I will be riding.

We ride any way. Even when it's above 4.00/gal. Right now it's come down to 3.95.
