Hello everyone. Just found this site and wanted to introduce myself. I live in Columbiana County, between Negley/Rogers and Calcutta. Yeah, I have some fantastic roads right in my backyard (170, Sprucevale Rd, the "nice" part of Rt 7, etc) ;D I'm into all types of riding, including adventure riding, dual sport/woods riding, and street riding (sport and laid back). I have a bike for each: a '02 Yamaha FZ1 for sport and touring, a '03 KTM 450exc for hardcore dualsport/woods, and a '02 Suzuki DRZ400s for adventure/dualsport/woods riding.
I normally chat and hangout with people from PA, since I live so close to the border, and haven't found any good forums for Ohio riders (until I found this one today). Looking forward to metting and riding with you guys (and gals) sometime in the future. I'm game for rides ranging from 1 to 10 hours (did a couple LONG rides last year), but I'm restricted to weekends usually, due to work.

Welcome! I hope you found an Ohio cyber home with us! My husband and I love to dual sport and do a lot of riding in your area and I bet in Pa where you ride too. We like the area I'll just call "south of Washington" and also the Ohiopyle/Connellsville area. We ride a DL650 and also have a WR450 made to be street legal. BTW, lookout for the troublemakers here . I won't mention names, but then we don't use names here do we 87? ;D

Hey ohiopt, welcome to Ride Ohio !! Glad to see we have another adventure rider on board. I see you are from the S.E. portion of Ohio, we have been doing some riding in your neck of the woods. This web site is based in Alliance. I am going to schedule one of next summer's rides down to the Beaver Creek area with a stop at the Steel Trolley for lunch. Glad to have you on board, feel free to post some photos of your bikes and the places you ride. There are complete instructions on the "Welcome Mat" for uploading photos.

Thanks for the welcome(s)! vstrom2up, where do you guys ride the WR450? That's a pretty hard-core dualsport bike, which is great, because I like trail and woods riding. xs, I grew up in Lisbon (where the diner is), and live 10 minutes from Beaver Creek State Park, so we'll definately have to meet up for that ride. Sprucevale road (that cuts right thru the park) is one of the roads I learned to ride on My wife actually works in Sebring, and I grew up in Salem for the 2nd half of my younger life (graduated from United Local), so I'm very familiar with Alliance also. I'll have to show you all some of the local twisties around here that you may not have discovered yet. I also know a lot of offroad trails that I'm sure you guys don't know (only the local rednecks know of them). I ride offroad about every other weekend (or more), so let me know if anyone wants to join. Here are some pictures of me and my bikes: The FZ1 on Rt 39 The DRZ400s during and after a 680 mile adventure weekend to West Virginia A recent woods ride on the DRZ Getting wet on the KTM last weekend (yeah, it was cold) Some pics from other rides on the KTM

Sweet pics!
The WR hasn't been really broken in yet. Just got it street legal about a month ago. Mr. Vs2up will likely test that to its limit while I like having a nice light-weight bike I am comfortable with. I rode a friend's DRZ400 and I really like it a lot.
We like to take the DL on some pretty crazy back roads, some that are near you. We have a friend with a GPS that can download all the non-serviced roads (and I use "road" loosely) and also just navigate on trails with that or my hand-held.

Great pics !! Good looking bikes !! I will take you up on that offer to show us around Beaver Creek, I have ridden that area before many years ago on a 441CC BSA Victor Special. I also noticed your photo of RT 39, one of my favorite routes is to pick up Rt 39 off of Rt 7 at the Ohio River and ride Rt 39 all the way to Loudonville. As a matter of fact, shoe, technical and myself did that ride this summer. I also like Rt 164 going south out of Slaineville, it's a good ride all the way to Dennison, and when I have the time, I like to hit Dunkin Donuts in Salem and then catch Rt 9 south out of Salem. I was born in Salem City Hospital. Small world huh ? XS

Mmm, Dunkin Donuts The next time you are in the Kensington/Salineville area, try Routes 644 and 518 towards West Point. While in the area, also check out Rt 419 (Middle Beaver Rd). Those are a few you may not have been on yet. Very scenic and twisty Let me know before you go, and I'll join you.

Ok, will do. Have you ever ridden Appolo Rd south all the way to the Ohio River ? If you keep pointed south, it dumps out at the river as Rt 56.
