Legend has it that Evil Road Spirits have been latching themselves on to motorcycles for as long as there have been bikes on the road. These Evil Road Spirits are responsible for mechanical problems and bad luck along a journey. Legend goes on to say that by attaching a small bell onto your bike, the Evil Road Spirits will become trapped inside the bell where the constant ringing drives them insane, making them lose their grip until they fall to the ground. (Ever wonder where potholes come from?)
Legend also has it that the mystery of the Guardian™ Bell carries twice as much power when it is purchased by a friend or loved one and given as a gift.

While I don't believe in ride bells, I do believe in good Karma. If anyone gives me anything when I'm out on the road, I keep it. I have a bunch of strange trinkets in my tank bag that go everywhere with me. Bottle opener, master link, comb, etc. Odd, I know. Does it help? I'm not sure, but it can't hurt.

I got one from my daughter for Christmas, I just installed it on my Silverado last week. I saw one on Jen's bike last summer, I must be living in a cave because I never heard of a Gremlin bell until then.
I'm a believer.

Don't have one but it's just because like 2m4dale said, it works best when given to you by someone. I just don't know if the "power" is reduced if I ask to get one??
8track, like your Karma trinket idea.

I knew of the legend through a bicycle shop I printed some business cards for. He had me typeset the story to put on the back of his business Card. I had forgotten about it until 2 weeks ago when I went to look at bike I was thinking of buying. I took a few friends with me to the dealership to get their opinion. One of the guys noticed the bell on the handlebar and everything came back to me. I'll let you know how it goes.... I bought the bike Thursday evening and the next day we got a blizzard. Actually I plan on picking one up for my friend. He has owned two Harleys in the last 3 years and it seems he always has had bad luck with both of them. Gypsyjuggler

I purchased and gave 4 bells to my friends that ride this week. They were all quite pleased and amused and said they would attach the bell to thier bike ASAP.

I suppose it can't hurt. I travel with a St. Christopher's medal so I hope he is with me!
I didn't vote since there is no "can't hurt" and I don't have one on my bike.

This poll was started 2 years ago, at that time I had received a Gremlin bell as a gift and had just installed it on my bike. At the end of last riding season I notice my bell was gone, nothing was left except the metal loop that was on top of the bell. I ask for and received another Gremlin bell for Christmas 2009. I just installed it last week...so I'm protected and ready to ride.

When I first seen them I was going to buy one for my bike until the person at the counter told me if it was for my bike someone else had to buy it. After a couple of months a friend bought one for me and I ride with it attached down low on the frame. Can't hurt so why not.

I have no bells. Someone once gave me a penny with a heart punched through it about 20 years ago. It's been on the Transalp key chain ever since. It is supposed to bring me luck but I not a superstitious person. I only kept it because it was given to me as an act from the heart.
I tried deer whistles once and all it did was piss off dogs so I took them off.
Be careful bell users, Loud pipes might drown them out....
