Does anyone have a suggestion for some route (mapping) planning software? Google maps SUCKS.

I still use Microsoft streets and trips. I don't think they sell it any longer however.
Try the harley route planner site or the honda route planner website
Neither are great but they're better than google maps

Streets and trips lets you plan the route then export the file in .gpx format to the garmin gps unit. I think the harley site does also.
I always have maps with me, but on longer trips I like to plan a route and load them in the garmin. Mine will let me upload at least 10 days of routes. It might hold more but that's the most I've ever tried to upload.

I, like Wahoo, have been using M/S Streets and Trips for planning and have for years. Never have used Google for route planning. I have a GPS that I use as a rolling road map. Most places that I travel, I have been there before and generally know where I am going or where I am supposed to go. Now for checking out restaurants or motels, I use the GPS features.
