Ya gotta ride in the rain to learn how.Don't be afraid of it or getting tense, just go dang it's raining.Stay relaxed but extra alert to the road surface, cars in front and behind you and keep a little extra distance for a little more braking distance. I have a full fairing so that helps me out alot, haven't ridden without one in 35 years.

NOTHING is waterproof. The best you can do is water resistant! You are going to get wet.
I agree with all the othe points. :-)
Personally I would rather wait for a nice day.

I usually don't go out for a day of wandering around if it's raining, but have done quite a few days in the rain when we are on a trip somewhere. A few years ago we rode in a pretty steady rain from Syracuse to Coudersport, about 180 miles. Around Horseheads NY it was raining so hard we couldn't see the road and had to take cover under an overpass for awhile.
Frog toggs are pretty good but you always get a little damp regardless. I've got a pair of waterproof Bates harness boots which always have kept my feet dry and a full face helmet helps keep the glasses dry.
Good suggestions in that article. Easy on the throttle, slow down in turns, avoid shiny areas in the road (probably, oil) and allow for longe stopping distances.

I hate riding in rain... causes problems with vision of rider and an oncoming driver. Just my opinion. Especially bad on Deal's Gap... Photo from 2010
