There is a small possibility that we will be getting a bonus from work. I have been thinking about a new bike and if the bonus comes true I will have a decision to make. Here are a couple ideas........... others will have to be considered also . Comments? Suggestions? Thankx.
Ducati 899 Panigale -- $15,295 list, 898cc, 148hp, 426lbs
Ducati Monster 821 -- $11,495 list, 821cc, 112hp, 453lbs

A buddy of mine had a monster. Awesome bike. He "outgrew" it and wanted something bigger. Your experience may vary, depending on how much you ride it and how far you plan to go. The monster is not going to be an all day in the saddle kind of bike. Only you know if that matters. The Panigale will be like riding a tornado. Lots of power and will corner like its on rails.
Both will expensive to maintain but will be a blast to ride. Good luck in your decision.

Thanks - I should have lots of time to mull it over. I am so confused.
I like some of the MV Agusta and Aprilia bikes too but am worried about parts and service being available locally.
BMW is another possible.

Dave, I heard that insurance is crazy for a Ducati. Might be something to check before you pull the trigger.

Think I would go with the BMW,more dealers and groups around for support. My closest BMW dealer is in Louisville KY. If I were buying I think I would stay with a bike in the big 5..4 Jap and Harley. Insurance for sure is a factor and another would be ..how fast would I kill myself.

Insurance will not be cheap, especially if you have had any tickets in past 3 years. Why the desire for an Italian steed?

Dave, talk to mgorman, he has a friend who owns a Ducati shop, he should be able to fill you on on costs for routine maintenance and repair costs. I understand repairs are expensive.

Insurance will not be cheap, especially if you have had any tickets in past 3 years. Why the desire for an Italian steed? No tickets on bike EVER! Nothing on driving record for many many years. As to why Ducati ---- just look at them ---- awesome. I never had a twin and would like to see what they are all about.

They're a blast. I rode the monster before my buddy sold his. Don't think I could handle the seating position on the Panigale.
As XS suggested, You should talk to Mike Gorman. He can probably get you the best deal,on a Duc
