Well back in February I was told that I should not ride again by a Cardiologist in Lakeland, FL. I took it pretty hard sine I started riding back 60 years ago. I have Congestive Heart Failure which fluid builds up in the lungs and legs. The doc said that I had about 10 pounds of water in each leg and I was coughing up a clear fluid. I could hardly talk or walk. A week in the hospital and water pills (Lasix) were started. We came home from Florida before the end of March and sold the Pearl White Gold Wing. The month of April was bad, as for the first time in 40 years there was not a motorcycle in my garage. I went to my family doc and he adjusted my lasix doubling what I was on before. A couple weeks later, I tried to see my regular Ohio Cardiologist but he was not in town, so they assigned me to another one who said that I could ride again as long as I kept my toes higher than my nose while resting. I bought another Gold Wing... a red one this time... an older one since I was unsure how long it would be before the CHF would catch up with me again. This past Tuesday, I had 10 motorcycles follow me thru some twisties in SE Indiana. Feel like how Gene Autry felt - "Back in the Saddle Again"

No Bill - maybe I should though - I used to take them every 2 years when I was really involved with GWRRA. It is a great thing... most every Tuesday the guy that sits across from me at the Wendy's breakfast is an instructor - rider coach. Chuck has been doing it for years. Generally when we to a group ride - he is usually right behind me. He hasn't taken away my Master Tour Rider patch yet! See www.gwrra.org/regional/ridered/levelsprogram.html

I have never taken a motorcycle riding course. I have Many hours in truck driving classes and I even taught a few. My buddy when he first started riding a few years ago did not believe me when I told him about counter steering UNTIL he took my advice and took a class on how to ride.I have thought about taking a course when I am able to ride again just to refresh my self and learn a few things.Just don't have me do slow riding..never been one of my strong points :)The first key to safe riding is to know where your faults are.
