Sorry about not posting a date for a possible ride to the BRP and the Smokey Mountains earlier. I had to figure out some work commitments first. The dates that work best for me are the first week of September. That would be 2nd thru the 6th. The second is Labor day. My thought would be to have a meeting place along I77. We would use Sunday as an individual travel day to get to the meeting spot and be ready to go on Monday morning. We would stay Tuesday thru Friday at the Blueridge Motorcycle Campground and do day trips from there. We would leave Saturday morning to make our individual rides home. The campground has KOA style cabins to rent or regular tent camping. They provide bedding and towels if you rent a cabin. They also have a nice lodge. I would recommend reserving a cabin ahead of time. Here is link to the campground. blueridgemotorcyclecamp.com/The day rides could include The Tail of the Dragon, the Smokey Mountain National Park and Gatlinburg, a trip to Whitewater falls, or just a day of lets get lost and find new roads. Here is a link to the water falls. www.romanticasheville.com/whitewater_falls.htmI would like it if some one else could take the lead of one or several of the day trips. Also if someone would like to trailer down the campground does have space to park trucks and trailers. Let em know your thougts.

Sounds like a nice ride but I'll be down there in October for a Wedding and hopefully a Transalp Rally. When I was down there a couple weeks ago, most sections of the Pkwy I tried were closed from ice and snow as well as land slides which by September won;t be an issue. I would however check before you leave because I tried a couple years ago and sections were closed in May from Landslides. There is a website that you can check that show all the closings including constrution. A couple the times the detours were some of the best riding.

Sounds like a good time but unfortunately we can not make it. We have a bike trip to Mackinaw at the same time.

Jeffe- I will probably already have been there before September. I have a current, yet tentative plan to do some snakes: These are the only Snakes that I love... Check out some of the ride plans I tentatively have for this year! First - Planning on doing the "Rattler" www.209therattler.com/and then another - the "Diamondback"! www.diamondbacknc.com/Then on to 421 the snake around Shady Valley www.421thesnake.com/Like I said - it is tentative - and depends on how the wife's knee is doing! If it is doing OK I will go. If I have to stay home and assist her - I probably will put it off until later!

Not sure if Jeffe ever made this trip. I did the BRP end to end at the end of May. 3rd time for me. Tomorrow I'm heading to Winchester VA to ride skyline drive on Thursday. Never done the top 100 miles so may as well go.
Plan to play in WV on Friday then ride home from Elkins WV on Saturday.
Safe journeys to all.
