One of my favorite roads that I would like to share and ride with some of our local members is Apollo Road. Apollo runs from the little town of Kensington south all the way to the Ohio River. This little 1 1/2 lane paved road that runs about 40 miles thru out back Ohio countryside is full of rolling hills, twisties and swervies. I have ridden this road many times and each time I ride it, I find something new to discover. This little road winds thru farm land which at one time was traveled by stagecoach, and if you pay attention, you will see remnents of stagecoach stops at various places along the route. Apollo Road connects with other roads going due south and eventually dumps out on Rt 7 at the Ohio River. It's a good days ride, and if you venture on Apollo road, go with a full tank of gas, because it's all out back country, and there are no gas stations. Apollo Road is located off of Rt 30 east of Canton Ohio at the little town of Kensington.

this looks to be a killer ride. i lost track of the road on google maps around amsterdam tho. think i'd rather wing with u on the first couple runs on it since it seems to branch off in different directions.

The key is to keep pointed south.

where does this road dump at...i cant find where it finishes. the last thing i'd need is to be on reserve in the middle of nowheresville even after starting on a full tank. it obviously is a chameleon with road name changes, and that's the confusing part

After a couple of zig zags it dumps out at the Ohio River as county road 56.

My college room mate has a farm right off of this road near Carrollton. Never been on it on a bike but I agree, it would be a great ride.

Sounds like a good one XS. I love traveling on the "old" roads where you can get a glimpse of some of the leftovers of the past. I'll have to put this one in my file of roads to visit.

XS, Lightning and I rode Apollo from Harlem Springs north today. This is one of those "one day we ought to take that road". What a great road! Naturally we forgot the camera, but saw a dead or drunk cat on the side of the road with beer bottles beside it. would have made a great pic But back to the road, great scenery, nice road, and friendly farmers.

The place is called Harlem Cycle Salvage and it's located about 1 mile east of Rt 43 in Harlem Springs. Keith has two pole barns full of salvage Jap bikes. He can also get new parts.
