Nice write up. I didn't realize Penton was a native of this area.

I remember the Penton motorcycles very well. I didn't know he was from this area either.

The whole family is. The bikes were born and bred here in Ohio. KTM even has it's head quarters for the east coast in Amherst.
John is rumored to have ridden one of his bikes to Michigan, won an enduro and rode home, getting caught speeding with the trophy strapped to the back.
I've been lucky enough to get to talk with both Jack (son) and John. I have their autographs on a KTM t-Shirt from the Rally they attended. Jack also attends many of the dual sports here in Ohio and Michigan.

Michael, correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't you take me to a little dirt bike shop in N. Jackson to look at 6 or 8 new Pentons that were still in the box ? I think they found them in storage in an old warehouse.
I'm still kicking myself for not buying one.

If I had the money I would have bought all 6 on the spot.
How much did they sell for?

At the time, I think they were $800.00 in the crate.
