Prayers for the family. I've lost a few friends at a young age, and its always hard to understand and accept.

I do not know if it is appropriate to post this here or not - in a way it seems like hijacking a thread. But here goes, for what it is worth. Seems like as I get older - I keep losing my riding buddies. 2 months ago, while I was down here in Florida - An old riding friend back in Cincinnati lost his fight with cancer. He was 83 ... Elmer had started riding at a very early age and when he was in his early 70's rode to Alaska by himself. He rode with me every Tuesday when I would lead the Retired and Riding guys on our two wheel Tuesday rides. 30 years ago he was into off-road racing. Sure miss that guy. Then 2 years ago in August - another friend of mine was on his way to Sturgis and was killed by a driver making an abrupt left turn into a driveway. Ed was riding a newer Harley and did not have time to react. Fortunately, his wife was not along or there would have been 2 killed that day. Then another one Wes who was still riding when he was in his upper 80's passed away... Wes led many rides in his lifetime as leader of the "Over the Hill Gang" in Cincinnati and was practically born on a motorcycle. His mother and father rode in the early 1900's and there is a photo somewhere of him as a toddler, sitting with his parents on an old Harley. All in all, I was Historian of our Gold Wing Road Riders chapter in SW Ohio and I kept records of friends who rode with us beginning in 1985. 49 riders have passed away, either by some disease or by motorcycle accident! Makes me sad!
