I'm curious as to which brand name tire you are putting on the Ultra ?

The original Dunlop has 13,000 miles on it and we ride 2up and have pulled the trailer for 7,000 miles, so I think the tire wore very well. I am having the same tire put on again.

Yep, I'd say that 13,000 miles on the rear is a good performance, especially under those circumstances. Those big tires ain't cheap are they ? The big Dunlop rear tire was $120.00 a pop some years ago for my V-4 Magna, probably a lot more now. Life expectancy was about 5,000 miles on it. ;D

I found that the secret to long tire life is to ride 2up. Always lean back a little on the bike and keep more weight on the rear tire. This helps extend the rear tire life. The added weight causes the tire to bite instead of spinning, and you are able to ride better wheelies. ;D This also extends the front tire life because if it is not touching the ground it will not wear. The other thing is to unhook the trailer when riding wheelies - it gets real ugly when the trailer tongue tries to bite into the asphalt. ;D

Uh huh, now you are jerking my chain X-90 ;D BTW, when do you get the Ultra back ? I'm looking forward to hearing how much h/p and torque you gained with the new pipes. Oh, and lets not forget about the rear tire, did they test the bike on the dyno before or after they installed the tire ? I'd be interested in knowing how much h/p the new tire added ;D ;D

The Ultra is back. ;D They dyno with the new tire but it gives reduced rates on the dyno because the diameter is larger. We started at 74HP and 85TQ with the Screaming Eagle Touring mufflers. I installed a Rinehart 2 into 1 system and ended up with 85HP and 90TQ. The HP came way up but I was hoping for more torque. We need to hook up the trailer and load the bike to see what kind of improvement we have on the road.

Wow, that's a substantial increase in h/p for a set of pipes, I'm impressed with that. It's a little harder to bump up torque readings without getting into the engine components like cam, pistons and heads. Your increase is not bad for bolt on. I'd be interested in knowing if you could tell the difference when you rode it home.

Those are excellent numbers, X-90. Quite an improvement over even a stock 96 inch, I believe.

The bike pulled a little harder in 5th gear passing cars on the highway. It is a little hard to judge the improvement because the new pipe is louder and you know that louder =more HP - ask any high school kid. ;D ;D

That's a lot of money for a seat, but if it makes your co-pilot happy, it's worth twice the price. If the co-pilot ain't happy, then nobody is happy. ;D

A good aftermarket(non-heated) seat for our bike is $500 - $800, and there is no guarantee that we would like it. The price on the Harley seat is actually a good deal because it is adjustable to fit on the fly.
