It's not really a motorcycle, but close enough. It looks like Hotcakes and I are getting a Cushman from the early 40s. It is a model 39-G Auto Glide 3-Wheeler. It has 2 wheels in the front and 1 in the rear. It appears to be all original except for the front storage box. I found a picture of a Cushman that is a model 29 and the 39 looks fairly similar. www.nebraskahistory.org/images/sites/mnh/cushman/ammon/025.jpg

Yeh, X-90 you gotta keep us posted, most of us have had some sort of connection with Cushman scooters in our past. Some of us rode Cushmans from the late 40s and early 50s. Should be an interesting restoration.

I am looking for more pictures of the 3 wheel scooters. A lot of them were used by the war contractors in the production plants. I really do not want to do a drabby restoration. I was thinking more of a vendor bike - coke or an ice cream theme.

I looked up this picture because I thought it was a 3 wheel scooter, but it isn't. I thought it was worth a posting nevertheless. I took it at the Wheels Through Time Museum in North Carolina. It is a bike used to haul carrier pigeons in WWII (I think). That will be a really cool restoration. Can I buy the first ice cream cone or Coke from it?

WOW, that is a cool looking old bike. You have to talk to Hotcakes about being first in line. I think that once she rides the Cushman, I will never get to ride it.

We finally picked the Cushman up. I was a little concerned that we were not going to pick it up - the deal was too good to be true. Then to really top things off, I went to Attica yesterday and picked up an original 1974 X-90. It is rough but restorable and it has a clean Ohio title.

That would look good painted up as an ice cream truck. If you look real close, you can see the old exterior ratchet type kick starter under the seat.

That is the exact model that we bought. The kicker on ours works but I need to replace a few parts.

Does that have the old upright flat head single cylinder motor ? I think some of them only developed about 8 h/p.

That is the correct engine but I think that this is only 4HP. It also has the 2-speed Auto-Glide transmission.
