Man, you guys have some nice projects going on. (still baffled by the minibike thing though ) Here in the south, old bikes are few and far between. Because of our ten month riding season, most are long dead. Most of my "treasures" (haha) have been found via word of mouth. "Hey man, my brother in law's uncle's ex wife has a old motorcycle, I think is a 750". I of course call only to find out it's a Puch moped...and it's only $750. Whata deal* I shoulda known. But, every once in a while I come across something worth bringing home. Sometimes I don't, but I bring it home anyway. I always see the potential. (Character flaw) "Set of fork seals and she'll be good as new!" I say to myself. I know it'll take 852 hours on ebay, 600 hours of labor. and $3500 to make it run...but I keep that to myself. Hey, dream big right. My first restification was this little beast. A 1980 GS550E. It's been an ongoing project. Every time It's finished, I start doing something else to it. This was when it was finished the second time... Third. Last. (for now) This is one of my first really cheap finds. I got it for free, but I had to lift it over the ladies shrubs to get it out. It gave it's life so that others could live. (a moment of silence please ) (to be continued)

Excellent work 8trackmind, very nice. Very Cool 8 Track .. Keep Em Coming Thanks guys. My next project was my 1978 GS1000C. I really wanted a '78. First year of the GS1000, one year only fuel tank. Ended up traveling all the way to PA to get this one. Here it is leaving PA. Here's the trip odometer on the car...200 miles from home. (yes, I'm stupid) As soon as I got it home...the mods started. (the very next weekend as a matter of fact) Any of you guys remember Russ Collins? Well, I managed to score a NOS R.C Engineering 4 into 1 for...Nah, I can't tell you. You wouldn't believe me. Ok, I'll tell ya. $80.00! The bike was already fast when I got it...But the Flintstone braking system, and the front springs had to go. I robbed the forks of the old junker (posted above). Threw a set of progressive springs on and added some 20wt Bel Ray fork juice. A guy on a CBX site was running a set of dual piston Kawasaki Ninja calipers on his H1. That got me to thinkin'... Here are the Kaw Kalipers on the ol' 1000. The next mod was a 82 GS1100 swingarm, and a set of mags. Then came the good part...Paint! I didn't paint it. My buddy did. I had to hold him at gun point to get it done. ;D You may have noticed the new Toyota FJ cruisers. I thought 8t6 "VooDoo Blue"was a cool color. Got it this far, but you know there's always more stuff to do. Finally got my GS1000S Air Tech fairing mounted. Hacked out some brackets for my GSXR Hillbilly rearsets. Still need to cut 'em out. They work well though. More to come.

Make sure you find a really good deal when I have ZERO $$$ so it'll hurt even worse! ;D Actually, with three GS's, I need to start looking for some other makes to pick on for a while. My short list would be an XS650, SR500, 81 up CB750F, or a CB900F. Early GPZ550 or 750. The long list would be everything that came out of Japan from 1969 to 1984.

The Xs650 is nice ,, XS has the nicest one I ever saw ,, The Sr 500 are troublesome But have a real following for sure ,, Thumper page.com .. I had several Honda Ascots .. Love those big thumpers ,, Honda 750f is a real nice bike and still at a reasonable price unlike the early KO ,, the 900 I am not familar with ,, Kawasaki GPZ 550 is one runnin bike ,I had an 81 A model that thing would stand right up on its rear wheel , the 750s look cool , You might as well go for the GPZ900 ,, yep the one Tom Cruise rode in Top Gun ;D
