I felt that a new thread is warranted for my trip. I am currently in Wuxi - a small city - only 5 million people. My adventure today took me to the Ling Shan Buddha. It is made of bronze and stands almost 300' tall. The climb to the top was not too bad - it was only 95 degrees. How would you like to clip these toenails. Several times a day there is a fountain show that lasts about 15 minutes. This monument transforms itself. Before the show. The fountain show starts. As the show progresses, the petals on top of the monument open and a statue rises then turns 360 degrees. After a full rotation the statues is lowered back into the monument and the petals close back up. While all of this is going on the fountain is constantly changing the water patterns. It was very impressive.

Very impressive X-90, that is an awesome statue ! How do you find the Chinese people ? Are they friendly and receptive to Americans ? And do you have any problems communicating in restaurants and public places ?

The worst part about being in China is having to fly home. I like it here. The people are very friendly and helpful. I speak no Chinese so I try to plan ahead carefully so I do not get lost and have to try and communicate. I do fine in the big restaurants, menus are in Chinese and English. In the bigger establishments, you can usually find someone who speaks some English. I am putting together my motorcycle report but I still need a lot more photos. It is hard to find the "perfect shot" at times.

They seem to clone Honda and Suzuki here. This looks a lot like Hotcakes Honda Rebel.

The architecture here is really great. Walkways over the canals. Make sure you use the bridge - you do not want to meet this guy. ;D This building overlooks the lake. I could be a house or a temple.

I have found that trikes are widely used in China. They use them mostly for work. You can buy an electric trike or a gasoline trike. Electric work trike Gasoline work trike City tourist trikes I can think of a couple of old guys that would look really cool racing these to some burger joints. ;D

Too bad you can't bring one of those trikes home with you, it would be great for my Dunkin coffee run in the mornings. I could have a lot of fun with it.
