Sons Of Liberty Riders. Made the ride sunday and had a good time.Chris gave us maps and told us where possible road hazards were. One was a bridge with some kinda rubber joints at each end..couple of riders said they slid on them a bit,I had no problem and didn't even notice. At the briefing I asked about a p break, hate wet jeans:-) No stops planned But a couple of other riders said lets stop...think smokers won out:-)Nice scenic roads,on the smaller side, all single file except at stop signs where we grouped up,slow speeds, rider ahead of me could not take a curve without hitting his brakes...on a full dresser bike...scary.. Any way a nice ride, we made one stop,Doc Thomas was the mc, Sons Of Liberty Riders did the pledge of allegance on stage,my congressman was there and a coal rep..interesting stuff. But the boring stuff is over..pictures. Tv filmed us:-) Where we stopped in Rielly OH See you some where down the road...............

Great set of photo's with a very wide selection of bikes. Nice countryside as well. You guys named after the 'Sons Of liberty' that kicked off the Boston Tea Party in 1773?

Your weather looks great, How are you guys getting on with reducing your carbon footprints? Can't really talk about that here, too political cause the far left is is mad at us for grilling out and riding bikes and that is all I will say about that here ;D But yes it was a perfect day, south west Ohio is really a nice place with a lot of back roads, farm roads, creeks, hollars, rivers, lakes, parks, wildlife Right now with all the rain it is very GREEN and lush and soon we will have corn..then corn on the cob right off the grill with butter and garlic salt;D

Didn't realise this was a political hot potato! I guess on a personal level it's up to all of us to try and reduce it. However with China building one coal fired power station a day it makes our own sacrifices look pretty insignificant?

I'm all for going green, but then I love a good steak on the BBQ and riding motorcycles too.
I try to keep my carbon footprint to the minimum. I'm the re-cycle king of our neighborhood.

From the Carbon Ride..a review. Vinoklet Winery welcomed hundreds of people on Sunday June 12, a day that Hollywood could not have produced any better. The morning started out with a motorcycle ride organized and led by the Sons of Liberty from Southwest Ohio. Chris Osterhues gathered the assembled riders for a short pre-ride prayer and reminder of the heroic men who founded this country and created the greatest system of government mankind has ever known. At just after 11:00, kick stands were up and the sweet scent of carbon filled the air as freedom loving Americans took to the open roads of rural Ohio and Indiana. If Patrick Henry were living during the present day, one might imagine him leading the ride on a Harley, as a symbol of individual liberty with old glory streaming in defiance across the sun-kissed byways of America.
The riders returned just as the crowds were streaming in and joined in the opening ceremonies by leading the Pledge of Allegiance. Three young patriots presented the colors for the Pledge and the National Anthem as the guests gathered by the stage.
Doc Thompson fired up the crowd with some common sense anecdotes and cogent thoughts on the insanity that passes for policy at the EPA. Mike Carey of the Ohio Coal Association brought the facts on Ohio's energy future. He noted that 85% of our electricity comes from coal and our neighbors in Indiana and Kentucky are in the same boat. Congressman Steve Chabot is fighting to reign in the EPA in Washington and progress is on the horizon. He made it clear that we must have like-minded folks take over the U.S. Senate and the Presidency to turn our fortunes around. All Sunday’s speakers agree that the U.S. has abundant energy available if only it were not placed off limits.
Vinoklet Winery need not take a back seat to the Napa Valley for sheer beauty and atmosphere and the wine is pretty good too. We wish to thank Kreso Mikulic and his staff for providing faultless service to all the “Carbon Sense” guests.
