My Garmin Nuvi 360 doesn't have many features. Can't download routes, isn't waterproof, and the screen is hard to see in direct sunlight. On the other hand it didn't cost a lot and gets me from place to place when I need it.
I keep a few ziplock bags in the trunk and rubber bands in case I need it in the rain.
One of the riders on our recent Smokys trip had a Garmin 665. That thing is really nice....including XM radio. But too expensive for me. Maybe someday.

Being repulsed by others telling me what to due, I'll go out on limb here. At the urging of lstuckey1, a quick search on Amazon.com returned the lowest prices, including the shipping costs, and reviews of various models. A nice service with out the influence of sales people. Note: Refurbished units are less expensive but can be problematic.

Beware of high ratings on Amazon, lots of companies pay to have people rate their items 5 stars.

Some of my acquaintances make suggestions to me continuously on what I should purchase or do with my personal life. It was humorous to me for the first couple of years, but it has grown tiresome especially when they only have secondhand knowledge on a current topic.
So I wanted to give my personal insight on my GPS without offending anyone.
Amazon pays people for good reviews? Never knew that? I believe it.

I finally broke down and ordered a GPS which will allow me to download custom routes I plan on the computer. Found a Garmin 765T for $109 (factory refurbished - free shipping) and a Ram mount cradle for $11.
Set it up tonight and will give it a test ride tomorrow, hopefully.
It's not waterproof, but neither was my old one. That's what ziplock bags are for. ;D

The 765t is performing well. I tried downloading routes from the HD ride planner and it worked, but I didn't like it. So, I spent $29 and bought MS Streets and Trips 2011 edition. Much better. I can now plan a route, save it to my computer, and export a gpx version to the 765t.
So far I've done it several times w/o any problems. Tonight I planned two routes for tomorrow and will give them a try.
The unit itself works great. It's still a little hard to see in direct sunlight.
For $109 I guess I can't complain too much.
