If you are in N.E. Ohio and want a good afternoon's ride, Paris Ohio might be a good place to visit, it is an old town established in the very early 1800s. Some of the original buildings like stagecoach stops, taverns and churchs still exist today. Paris was a stagecoach stop and mail route on the way from Pittsburgh PA. to Mansfield Ohio. To find Paris, take Rt 172 east from Rt 77 at Canton Ohio and continue east about 7 miles, you will go right thru the little town. After you stop for a quick look, you can continue east thru more little old towns like New Franklin, New Alexander, New Garden, Gilford Lake reigon, and then Lisbon. At Lisbon you can take Rt 45 heading north to Salem. At Salem, you can catch Rt 14a going back toward Akron or take State street west which will return you to the Canton area via Rt 62. This is a good ride, and you won't be disappointed by the scenery, it's some of Ohio's best.

XS Next time you go to Paris Ohio,Turn south in the center of the little town on Paris rd. Follow this south for an enjoyable Ride through the hills. This was just repaved last year and should be in great shape yet. Another great route runs south just west of town as you descend the hill out of town. I believe its called Robertsville Rd. Try them both you wont be disappointed....Don

Don, you are right about those roads, I was raised just down the road from Paris in a little town called Freeburg. I know all the roads around Paris and Freeburg like the back of my hand. If I had a dime for every time I rode those roads as a kid on my mo-ped....well you know what I mean.
