We have had a nice spell of weather here for this time of the year which broke this afternoon with a thunderstorm, and lots of rain and hail. Fortunately I was out at 10.45 this morning on the Thunderbird! I was almost hit by a dizzy b!tch in a Ford Fiesta, who for some strange reason, known only to her, thought that she was supposed to be driving on the right! I was heading up towards Glencree on the road that runs by the side of a famous Dublin land mark 'The Hell Fire Club', it has it's roots set firmly when the church ruled Ireland with an iron grip and scared the population into going to church with tales of demons and devils. Legend has it that the Hell Fire Club was an out of town location for city people that liked to play cards for money and they would gather there and gambol. Well old Nick himself was supposed to have appeared one night, this appearance by the Devil coincided with the place catching fire and burning down. The remains are still there and visible atop the Dublin mountains. I am not the superstitious type but I have been up there several times and it is always cold up there and if you look closely by the remains of the fire place there is a scorched outline of what could be a goat standing on it's back legs. Anyway after missing the drunk lady in the Ford I proceeded over the mountains by the old military road built by the British occupation forces from a couple of hundred years ago to Glencree and then on into Enniskerry. The clouds were so low I rode through them, however many times I do that, it is still quite a strange experience. I was out up in the mountains for about 2 hours and just putting around. I think in the 2 hours I was out I saw 3 other bikes. I love the twisty mountain roads and prefer them to motorways although I do finish up most of my rides with a few miles on the M50 just to blow the cobwebs out of the Triumph!
