Perhaps I should point out that I have nothing against General Custer. I was in jury's Hotel in Dublin quite a number of years ago and using their restroom. They had a novel approach at that time to entertain you during urination - a graffitti board where words of wisdom etc. were written - presumably by users of the facility. "Custer had it coming!" was written clearly and for some reason made me laugh out loud. This had an unsettling effect on other users but nonetheless the words stuck with me. Many years later I used the internet to find out if in fact Custer had it coming and the answers were varied but there seems to be a case for his comeuppance - sadly to the detriment of his troops. I have since looked at adversaries through different tinted glasses and tend to NOT underestimate them now. It also helps to know your own strengths and weaknesses. All this through a graffitti board in a Dublin hotel. Who would have thought??

The park and monument is a nice place for a rest stop, From what I read Custer was thinking of going into politics and was trying to get famous, be careful what you wish for !!! If you ever get a chance watch the Dustin Hofman movie Little Big Man, it is a comedy, about an old man claiming to be the only white man to survive the battle.

Yes - I saw Little Big Man a long time ago and have largely forgotten most of it. Time for a visit to Blockbusters or similar for another look at it. Some day when it is raining perhaps!
