I drank several pint of the black stuff in O'Neill's one Friday night, on the way home I fell in a hole and it hit me on the head!

I Googled motorcycle Ohio and found many links, Ride Ohio was one of them. Added it to my favorites, watched it for awhile, then low and behold here I am..lol.
I seems like a great site with many local N.E. Ohio members..

I got a "Ride Ohio MC" business type card from Ted in Action motorcycles, Alliance, Ohio. That was, I think in August 2007. It took a lot of months to get back to Alliance from Ireland and to register - but here I am now.

Sorry bill - I only got into the swing since June. Yes, XS - the guys in Action are treating me well. I have a VStrom 1000, Bandit 1200 and a Yamaha FJR 1300 - in USA. I couldn't afford these bikes in Ireland due to the excessive cost not only of the bikes but the road tax and other costs. As an example - I got a new Vstrom 1000 here for about $800 less than a 1 year old 650 VStrom in Belfast (Home town). Bill will understand - he maybe even pays more in the Lower half of the island. Lets not talk about the price of gasoline there - it is too painful - some $10 a gallon.

Yep things are expensive here and looks like it is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Gas has stuck at about €1.34 a litre for a couple of weeks now, however I did get a nice surprise when I went and paid for my bike insurance it had come down to €298.00 for the year so can't really complain.
If you want to see how expensive things are just look at the price of a new Sporty in the States and then see how much one costs here!

I filled up my van today in Alliance at $3.92.9 a US gallon - some 3 cents of a reduction on yesterday and about 7 cents cheaper than neighbouring towns. a small amount but more importantly - going in the right direction. I often bemoan the fact to fellow riders in Ireland that the cost of filling an average car in the US equates to filling an average motorcycle in the United Kingdom and with the Euro so strong against the Pound - in Eire. Isn't it great that bikes do so many more MPG than cars? XS - thanks for the compliment about taste in bikes - I found no difficulty in liking the Suzukis but found choosing the Yamaha more of a challenge - I read several conflicting roadtests about it in the motorcycling press in the British Isles. The American roadtests seemed much more positive and I am glad I took their opinion more seriously - it is a superb motorcycle and so far - reliable, comfortable, fast, good handling, economical, purposeful and good looking. The shaft drive means trouble free distance covering and easy cleaning. Meanwhile the Suzukis are pure fun and will be doing some miles over the next couple of days - weather forecast looks good so the Ohio river, Rts 9, 536 and 800 are going to be revisited and Rt 555 investigated.

By the way - do any of you breakfast at the restaurant at Carrollton Airport? The food is very good as is the view of private planes to-ing and fro-ing and there are plenty of good roads around that area. The customers are friendly and seem to enjoy the company of bike riders as do the staff.

Welcome, bllyhen. Is that the restaurant at the airport or Blue Bird Farms a short walk from the airport ? By the way if you are going down rt.9 you can take a short detour on rt646 to New Rumley and see the Custer monument . 646 hits 151 at Scio which takes you back to 9.

Thanks oldbeemer, I will look out for that. I have been down that way but wasn't aware of the Custer monument. I am really enjoying getting to ride and know these roads and there is always something new every time I venture forth. Thanks to you guys I am obviously going to learn a lot more.
