I don't think we've done this poll before. If we have, I appologize for my poor memory!

I pretty much follow the recommended service intervals, and try to do as much of it myself as I can (fluids and filters, etc). The Wing seems much easier to work on than the HD, although neither has needed much. Both bikes are running full Synthetic oil now.
There is an Indy shop in Sandusky that I have had replace tires on the HD last summer, but fluids and filters are done at home. The mechanics are HD techs formerly with Roeders, which closed last year.
Adventure HD from Dover / New Philly area is opening a satellite dealership in Sandusky area in the spring. Anyone have any dealings with them ?

I follow the book as to all maintnance, but look at everything as if it needs it during winter. Remember my bike is an 86 and do not like surprizes.

So far I have had the dealer do all of the maintenance on the V-Star...mostly because I bought it new and want it maintained correctly. I do all of the work on my old XS650s, they are simple and easy to fix. So far, all the V-star has needed is oil and filter changes.

Probably not. If I get new cans the old ones will have to go into a landfill and thats bad for the environment!!! Of course the way its going the old XS11 will just quietly rust away anyway.

You mean there is a "BOOK" --- J/K As far as maintaining my Wings past and present - I follow the recommended service intervals for oil changes but I use Rotella Synthetic and do this myself. The Wing is pretty well bullet proof and my routine is to change oil and a friend mounts my tires when needed - that is about it.

As far as the poll goes, I do all my own work at recommended intervals (oil changes) but some work is done by the dealership
