Do you remember these? The GLASS pop bottle. This was used for DECADES and was the ultimate recyclable container. Wash it out, refill it, cap it, DONE. Then THEY eliminated them because the stores didn't want to be bothered with collecting them and PAYING us the deposit! It was also possible to reseal these if you didn't drink it all up. Remember the little plastic snap on caps? Same deal with milk in glass bottles. Then, without asking, they went to plastic and aluminum. Guaranteed it is more costly to melt and re-manufacture plastic bottles and cans than it was to wash/refill the glass bottles. They have to over-carbonate the pop because it leaks thru the plastic and goes flat. Plain Township, where I live, has a recycling collection site with large dumpsters for each type of material. When they come to collect, THEY DUMP IT ALL INTO ONE TRUCK! I don't recycle. ....end of rant

I am a little afraid of recycling. I'm always a little afraid that they will think I left my bike out at the curb for them to pick up.

Pepsi and Mountain Dew are now available in "Throwback" versions made with real sugar. Only if they were available in the glass bottles would it get any better!

We try to recycle whenever possable. I even have a little bucket at work I throw my cans, plastic and paper in. I refuse to pay for pickup so I save it then take it behind Kroger grocery store when I go shopping. I also save up the plastic grocery bags and turn them back in . We have a few canvas bags we use for shopping to avoid getting plastic bags. I think they should offer deposits on all plastic, glass and aluminum cans/bottles. That might encourage more people to recycle.

We recycle here as well, we have 2 wheelie bins and the green one for recycling is picked up once a fortnight. In the supermarkets if you require a plastic bag it will cost you 22 cent for every bag.
So everyone now has their own bags when they go shopping so not so many plastic bags being used by supermarkets.

I try my best but the wife has no intrest so I end up removing anything not too disgusting and putting it in bins. Lat week I hauled almost 40 pounds of scrap from the garage that included tranny parts (not human trannies) to recycling in a trailer behind the bicycle. The 20 mile round trip was exhausting. If you think making a mountain out of a mole hill is just a saying, try pedaling that junk up any grade and you'll wish you had taken the car!!
