Amtrak, no problem...I'm sure Jeff understands. I'd like to see more of the project. Yeah Jeff is alright..hope I'm not bugging him too much ;D Well the project is on my running bike, cam chain replacement put the bike down for a couple of days, broken bolt took a bit of doing and ended up messing up valve cover so a member of our group donated an xtra to my bike. Normally the cam chain should only take a couple of hours..valves were set..close to specs considering 25,000 since last time. Updating coils, best perfomance thing I did to the bike,Mike's XS 650 green coils..slight drilling to the mounting brackets to get them like stock...new wires, caps and irridium plugs.. Well the real fun began with 30 year old carbs that have never seen anything but Seafoam...a weak point on the XS carbs is people let them sit for months or years and they go to heck and get all jammed up with gunk but I ride year round and my carbs were in pretty good shape, well close enough:-) Carbs...before During.. MMM...a little dirt on the screen... Look pretty clean other wise... Will continue later...........

Make sure you install in line gas filters before you fire it back up.
Those XS650 coils will make that 1100 run like a new bike.

The bike has never stopped running, these are sunday afternoon projects...carbs pulled off, rebuilt, cleaned, put back on,synced and color tuned in about five hours,..final drive and fuse box four hours... I left alot out... setting floats.. Setting tank for sync and color tune..nope I did not install fuel line filters..after 30 years the tank filters have worked well..so I don't mess with what works... Yuppers the biggest bang I got was the green XS 650 coils..I did make a mistake I put 10w30 Castrol in it after the valve cover bolt was drilled out and some shavings went into the engine.. it had the engery conservering label on it..clutch slipped after 6000 rpm...got the cheap 20w50 advanced oil in it now...

I wonder if she would consider wrenching on my old XS650 ;D I think this past summer her mom got a 750 Viagra..I mean Virago..:-) Carls bike has taken lots of work and still is not just right yet,it is running and made it from Cincy to Indy after being trailered in. It is running but...not really road worthy yet... And just after it was rolled out..Eric's bike got a sync and color tune... A few weeks ago we had a threesome going ;D

Well we have two XS1100's being brought back to life..one has my old coils and another has my old headlight assembly..both are running..one is turning into a bobber rat bike the other a normal street bike.. so lets have a quick look see.. i156.photobucket.com/albums/t37/yamaha_28/DSC_0994.jpg[/IMG]This bike was a full touring model but it was beat to heck and back and in really bad shape..soo it is what it is now..still needing some carb work but it is getting there.. The other XS1100..two months of hard work was alive as of last sunday 11/29... www.youtube.com/watch?v=B9UAqv062dsGot off the phone a bit ago about my old XS650 I had..still tying to track it down...yuppers.. just might have a chance at it..going thru a third party still..been about a year or so but..never give up ..never give in... That bike has a past to it..my first road trip..Cincy to the Blue Ridge Pky up to RT 50 and back home..San Antonio Tx to see my brother at the Lackland Air Force base...that was the bike that put me on the road .....

I think I saw an XS1100 for sale today, it was sitting in front of a business here in Alliance. I think it needs some TLC, but it looked like it's all there.
Good luck finding the XS650, that Lime green color was the first year for the XS650
