Silver fish on the drain plug !! I hate it when that happens.
It happens to XS650s too.

I've decided to never change the oil Dont have to worry about finding nasties in there.

Mark and I did the same, we put ours up for the winter as well. Spring seems like an awful long ways away. Can't wait for spring time, want to ride

Puting a bike away just doesn't compute when it is near 70 degrees and sunny out. I took these today at a little lake I discovered while exploring backroads in Northwest Tennessee. Wish I had discovered it sooner, I'll bet it was spectacular when the leaves were turning.

Glad you got out for a ride, I spent the day taking a stress test.
Looks like Amtrak is knee deep in the old XS.

Glad you got out for a ride, I spent the day taking a stress test. Looks like Amtrak is knee deep in the old XS. Well looks like we are going to hijack Jeffe thread all the way soo I might as well do the update on my bike here... Well my bike will be thirty years old in may,all orginal, time for some clean up and better reliability. I have lots of pictures but will only post a few..I have a 1980 XS1100 SG Yamaha.. This will take a few posts if that is all right or move it to the right thread. First update is cam chain( recomended to replace chain at 80,00 miles) and check tensioner and set valves.. Well haven't set valves in ten years so valve cover has not been off...one bolt broke but easiley removed but one had to be drilled out,was last resort, heilcoil put in and all is fine now.. Cam chain adjuster came out to make sure it still worked.. Cutting a slot into bolt head to get a screwdiver bit to work..offending bolt broke but vise grips got it out.. But after all was said and done my valve cover was toast but an Indy rider (part of our SXOHXS Southwest Ohio XS group) donated a replacement for it..so a new cam chain was installed, pain in butt..timing marks not lining up on the top vs the bottom timing marks so a timing wheel picture was downloaded, cut to size and used.. New cam chain in,valves set and now time for the biggest bang for the buck..new coils..these are the green coils for the XS 650 Yamaha,a little drilling and modifiying and they are great on the 1100,new wires ,caps and iridium plugs... My old coils which I donated to our group and are now on another bike, My new green XS 650 coils... Carbs were next..will post later Some of the story is posted already so I left those pics out but I just remembered this box..worth its weight in gold..
