With all of the talk about "Going Green", a lot of manufacturers are thinking about offering an electric powered motorcycle in their line up. It's possible that in our lifetime, gas powered motorcycles might not be an option. Until that happens, would you be a pioneer and buy and ride an electric powered motorcycle if it proved to be reliable and affordable ? Could you give up the roar and rumble of our gas powered machines we ride today ? Could you give up your shotgun exhaust or your tuned header systems for the whisper quiet of electric ?

I voted that I would buy and ride one, but it depends on the cost. Every "GREEN" product, item, service, procedure that I am aware of costs more than the existing equivalent. Until they have equal prices I don't think there is any incentive to switch.

Of course my answer would be "yes"! It would go well with my hybrid car!

I would miss the roar of a well tuned engine ,, nothing gets me excited like an engine at full song sitting on the RED Line ... What can I say ,No Hope Right XS ? , BUT I would buy and ride an electric bike ,, if I ever ride again that is ,, I also agree with CBR Dave and his post ,, ;D

I guess it's just a matter of time before we get electric bikes and cars, so if they handle as well and perform as well and sound as well, well, why not!

Thanks for the comments, but you gotta vote too. That's why it's called a "Poll".

I would not. As Shoe said a big part of riding is the thrill of the sound and feel of the engine. I can't get excited about HMMMMMMMMMMM. Maybe if you put a Bose sound system on it and play the sound of engine. If you want to off road maybe play the sound of a KTM on the pipe. Cruising around town the sound of a HD, especially at idle at a light. Long distance maybe the sound of an R90 Beemer. How about the sound of a RD350 or GPZ at full song for in the twisites. Pick your own.

My biggest concern is lack of range. The longest I have seen is about 40 miles, that would be a lot of time spent recharging on a 200 mile ride. Besides what would Jeffe do with his coffee cans :-) :-)
