I just thought I would see why everyone here rides a motorcycle. Don't you know these things are dangerous? I do hope you respond to this poll!

It must be in My blood, otherwise I would have quit after My Numerous crashes in the dirt, OR after My first street crash in 1983 OR after my last street crash in May. Yeah, that's it, I'm not Stubborn or a slow learner, it's in My blood! ;D

It's in my blood, my father came to court my mother on a big white Indian back in 1939. I have wanted to ride motorcycles as far back as I can remember.

I started to ride young. Later in life I was an over the road truck driver. I really liked the different senery. Now I ride for quality time with Lightning and see the sights that I do not see as a construction worker. The sights ,smells ,all the senses are enhanced. When I'm on a motorcycle I always have a smile on my face!

Because I like it. You can't get the same feeling diving a vette, Mustang or Porche. Guys like CBR Dave and I ride bikes that are pretty much race ready. I know they race the cars but they have to be modded out the butt to meet standards unless you go to the strip.
I can take my bike out of the garage, ride it to Amherst, enter a scramble and ride home if I don't break it. Dave just has to safety wire his bolts and put a oil catch under the cases and he can go racing at Mid Ohio.
We found out in Maui that touring by bike lets you see 200% of what you see by car unless you have a convertable. Plus, there is always a triangle at the end of the row to park in.

I will add this to my poll - I started riding in 1954 and have never looked to the time I would not be able to ride. It is getting closer and I figure if I live so long, I will have to give it up in 3 or 4 years. I have travelled to all 49 continental states and 7 Canadian provinces on two wheels and the travels have always been beautiful (wet and cold a lot of the time, but memorable) Can't get to Hawaii until the bridge is finished! Yes it is in my blood! My brother mad a BIG mistake when he took me for a ride in the early 50's on his Harley 61ci Police Bike. Yes, I was hooked! Now on my 4th Gold Wing and it is a 2002 with 137,600 miles on it and the other Wings were high mileage ones too. I bought new and piled up the miles. I just can't see me buying another one for over $20k when this one rides so good! With my heart problem I have a hard time justifying the expense. Anyway - I don't like to ride - I LOVE to ride! ;D

Roadrunner,
Fly to Maui and rent a bike for a week, you won't regret it. It was the best road ride I ever did, especially up the volcano. If you go up the volcanos, make sure you take some very warm gear!!!
Never been on the big island but next time we plan too.

Thanks for the tip - Now, if someone could get me on a inexpensive flight, that may be awesome. All of my trips to the 49 states have been ridden to on one or another of my Gold Wings. ;D I ONLY travelled in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Ontario, Canada, Tennessee and North Carolina on one or more of my former rides. The seats on my former bikes would only let me ride 150 miles before I felt like I was sitting on an uncovered ironing board. I still remember the PIA to this day!
