The Beartooth Pass runs from Red Lodge MT to the northeast enterance to Yellowstone. Only appropriate that this guy would be there to see me of from Yellowstone the morning I rode the pass. A view of 212 as it runs west from Red Lodge. The climb heading west. Quite a bit of snow for July 3. A picture of me and my traveling companion near the top. In the previous picture if you look over the guardrail this is what you see. Some vistas... This was quite a suprise. Four levels of swithbacks in one picture....cool! A little view with our swithbacks. The Summit,I think I passed 7 summits of 10,000 feet or more on this trip. More vistas... This sign made me want to stay close to the bike. A view from lower elevation. A nice herd of bison signals that we're back at Yellowstone.

THAT, my friends is one of my favorite rides! We were in Billings last year and when you are that close to Red Lodge and Cooke City ... well you know the rest of the story!

Yes it really is a gorgeous ride.I agree with roadrunner, this one was probably my favorite. The Beartooth pass has a few things that the others (Million Dollar Hwy,Trail Ridge Road,Going to the Sun)don't have.Number one-it is NOT in a nation park, therefore you don't have the ridiculous N.P. speed limits.I understand the need for the low speed limits in the N.P.s but they still suck.Number two-the Beartooth pass is pretty long, about 68 miles, plenty of room to include a wide variety of terrain.Three-diversity;forests,rocky areas, mountain lakes, snow, long views of the road and amazing mountain vistas.Four-It's in Montana,I love Montana.

Great pictures thanks for sharing them. Wife and I stumbled onto this route about 12 years ago. My wife lists this and Red Lodge as one of our best drives and stops in the country. When we hear friends are heading anywhere near there we tell them not to miss Beartooth Pass. Thanks for sharing the pics. By the way travel film aficionado Robert Curalt lists this as the best drive and most unspoiled wilderness in the country.
