locked the motor on 270 in columbus and almost died I used to ride a Honda XL125 between Akron and Youngstown every thursday to hang out at Dirt Work MC shop. I would pretty much lay on the tank and draft anything that would punch a hole in the air. You could get that motor wound up pretty high so I always kept one finger on the clutch. It finally broke down while idling in my garage when I pulled in at 1 am after riding all day and into the night. The cam chain tension guide worn in half and derailed the cam chain putting the exhaust valve into the piston. Mileage on the beast was unknown as it spent many years as a full time dirtbike. Another lucky moment

I've just been re-reading this thread. Often I'm out by myself in southeastern Ohio backroads and I have thought about what I would do in case of some mechanical failure on the bike. I have a cell phone but almost without fail it doesn't have any service when out in that area. So even if I had some type of roadside assistance such as AAA or whatever, I wouldn't be able to get in touch with them. Maybe I need to just stay home. Harleymec wrote "locked the motor on 270 in columbus and almost died". I would like to hear more about THAT story!!

Carol Nash my insurance provider offers road side assistance as part of the deal, and as I have an official mobile for business purposes hopefully I will never be caught out.
