I was out Saturday, went on a ride to raise funds for the U.S.O. then to dinner at Grandma's Kitchen in Mt. Hope . about 200 miles all together. For a new road try Port Washington road out of Millersburg .It is part of the first state road in Ohio, it has a trail of markers to follow but we detoured around some of the township road sections. If you had a dual sport they would be good. I got it from a brochure I picked up at an Amish restaurant.

I did get a chance to get out on Friday. My friend Greg and I used to get together on Fridays after work and take about an hour ride or so and then back to his house where his family and mine would be waiting for us to pull out the grill and cook dinner, then sit around the firepit for the rest of the evening.
Due to work schedules and mechanical issues, this was the first time we were able to do it since last year. But we also had one other thing to deal with. We had to move an old freezer out of his basement and put a new one in before we could ride.
By the time we got out on the road, It was almost 8:30 in the evening. Normally we would be on the way back by this time!
We decided to head out to the Cuyahoga Valley. We picked up Riverview Road from Pleasant Valley Road and headed south towards Peninsula.
Now I have driven this road many times over the years in a car, but this was my first time on a bike. It was fun ride. This road follows the Cuyahoga Valley on the western side of the valley, usually running 25-35 MPH, due to the narrowness of the road and the constant turns and blind curves. All you really could ask for was fewer bumps and chuckholes on the roads.
We went as far south as Rte 303, where we headed west. This section of 303 is sometimes called the roller coaster, because of the ups and down the road takes coming out of the valley. By the time we hit this section of the trip, it was after 9 pm and getting dark. There were a number of times that the only light I could see was Greg's taillight, and a few times that light vanished when he went over a high point in the road.
A very good ride, ended up being only about 50 miles or so, but next time, we are gonna make sure we get out of the house earlier!

No ride reports,no photos, but plenty of "new to me" roads.I've been checking out the very southern tip of Ohio...Lawerence and Gallia counties. If you get down that way and you want some twisties, try this 100 mile loop...start in Miller(0n 7 below Gallipolis).217w to 218n to Mercerville,790w to Lecta,775s to Wilgus,141s to 217e to CR6s(Deering-Bald Nob Rd) to 253e to CR2n(Greasy Ridge Rd) back to 775n to 141n to Gallipolis.
Almost all of this is great curvey riding, but the eastern section of 217 between Miller and 218 is a definite highlight,as is Greasy Ridge(after the first couple miles on the southend).Another highlight is 775 from Lecta to Wilgus.Also...new pavement on 775 and the eastern section of 217.
I can't say enough good about that short eastern section of 217.It's only 3.7 miles but it ROCKS!I rode it twice in both directions and still hated to move on.
Another new to me recently paved fun S.E.O. road...356...southwest of Athens.Wait untill the end of July for this one...bridge work has it closed until late July.

The short answer is no! The long answer is we have had some construction work ongoing since the start of April, because builders equipment and supplies and bikes don't really mix in a back garden, the Sporty has been spending the Summer with a buddy of mine who has a garage. Well tomorrow the Sporty comes home as the builders have vacated my back garden.
So hopefully if the weather remanins as good as it has been for the last few weeks I will be back riding again!

Not much riding, too much garage time!!! I thought new tires would solve my weave problem. At 55 or higher my bike would wander all over the road, chasing cracks and grooves. After the new tires it got worse 60 and up. I packed and tightened every bearing on the bike, checked for brake drag, went all over the auto level system. Finally after all the work took it out to test ride and took it up cautiously to 85 and no problem. Did a couple up to 70 back to 50 did fine. with all I did I'm not sure what fixed it. But it is OK now. Any ideas?

I would have guessed steering head bearings were either too tight or needed cleaned and greased..or replaced.

Steering head bearings were really loose, and needed greased. Amazing how the new tires made it REALLY show up! I'm looking into All Balls bearings for a winter swap [I've worked on it enough, time to ride].

Some of the old Yamaha's had problems with soft spots on the race of the steering head bearings...most of us replaced the original ball bearings with roller bearings.
The ball bearings made the old Yams handle like a wheelbarrow full of loose rocks ;D
I don't even want to talk about the swing arm bushings, that's a whole different problem...sort of like having a bike with a hinge in the middle of the frame. ;D

I had a problem with my 2002 Gold Wing once it got to over 100,000 miles. Steering head bearings were shot - replaced them with "all balls" (why are they called that when they are tapered bearings) Bike had 149,000 miles on it when I sold it and it rode like it did when I rode it home from the dealer brand new.

We've barely ridden at all. Between medical and mechanical problems, it's been a bad summer for riding.

Mechanical problems? With a Harley? Surely you jest!!!! OMG! It's craziness! Crap the "never" breaks is breaking! During the carb fiasco of 2010, while using the tool meant for the job (not forcing things with a hammer) the float pin tower on the carb SNAPPED OFF!!! I lucked out and found somebody who was a good welder and could weld it back on. Otherwise it would have been a trip to new carboratorville for me!

I did an 8 day, 2400 mile ride down to WV, down the Blue Ridge Parkway, Deals Gap, and back. ( I posted a link to Photobucket but still need to do some editing on the album.)
Does that count ?
